My older sister and I spent two days 4 hours total, learning to weave baskets with cedar back by a Jamestown S'Klallam tribal member Cathy McGregor. My first basket was a bit lopsided I'm afraid as the whole process was WAY more difficult than I had previously thought! The first night that I went to weaving class I had just come from a different class at Doodlebugs in Sequim, WA where I took an art class on how to do mixed media with Faber-Castells Gelatos. I will include a picture of my completed mixed media project. Needless to say I have also been doing Artist trading cards with Mary who is a teacher of K-5th graders. I have traded 20 ATC's to date. I didn't scan or take any pictures of those prior to sending them. My bad. In the future I will include pictures. Not that I have any followers or anybody who subscribes or reads my posts. Mostly it is just a diary at this point. I am learning to do all of these crafting mediums as I have two rooms in my house which are FULL to the ceiling of craft supplies and I need to start using them up vs. buying more. Signing off for now! Christine PS The lady sitting next to me in the weaving picture is my oldest sister Lenora!

What a wonderful canvas! Thanks for joining the Stampotique DC
ReplyDeleteThank you! First time entering! I'm so excited to be a part of the creative group this time around!
DeleteI would be lucky if a basket I made was *just* lopsided, Christine! Not to worry, your mixed media skills are first-rate! Love this piece, and it's perfect for this week's Stampotique challenge!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kay! This was a first for me on both crafting skills. I had never used Gesso before either! Those paints are fun to use! My first mixed media submission too! Whoo hoo! I did submit something once, but it wasn't for a challenge. It was for just a link up Tuesday on another site. I'm learning every day! Thanks for the opportunity to win a great prize! Christine
